How These Prints Are Made: Each print begins as a solid block of linoleum that I carve by hand using very sharp tools (yes, working with blades is pretty badass). The carved-away areas stay uninked, while the raised surface holds the ink and is pressed onto the paper. This process is called relief printing, and it’s one of the oldest printmaking methods around—slow, tactile, and delightfully analog.
Because everything is done by hand (carving, inking, pressing), no two prints are ever exactly the same. Tiny variations in texture, ink coverage, or pressure are part of the process and part of the charm. You’re not getting a copy; you’re getting a human-made original.
And while I’d love to offer instant gratification, handmade art doesn’t work on a two-day shipping timeline. Each print takes time to carve, print, dry, and sometimes gently argue with until it cooperates. Your patience is appreciated!
